As most of you know, we make a lot of ice cream in our house. A lot! Since I try to make a few batches at a time so I can stockpile, which is difficult to do since my daughter now knows when we’re out of ice cream there is always more in the basement freezer! I’m always looking for a container that will be a nice size to hold the ice cream, be easy to scoop ice cream out of the container, and most importantly a container that lasts. I’ve bought commercial containers that seem to crack after just one use. Not good!
I had the opportunity to try Glad FreezerWare through Foodbuzz’s Tastemaker Program and I’ve got to say, these are great containers. Especially for ice cream! The large size holds 2 pints and gives you enough surface area to make a nice scoop. The plastic doesn’t get brittle and crack after being in the cold for so long and then going into the sink either.
I also showed these containers in my Stuffed Shells recipe yesterday. The small size is great for a single serving of the shells when it’s just my husband or I at home. The best part is you can take the container from the freezer right to the microwave with no problems. Best part here? I had no tomato sauce stains on the container. Yay for not stained containers that I’m not embarrassed to loan to a friend!

So, Glad sent my family a nice batch of large and small FreezerWare containers. I have decided that, even though I like them a lot, I wanted to share some with one lucky reader. You can try the Stuffed Shells with Beef and Cheese I made yesterday, the Coffee Ice Cream recipe I’ll be posting tomorrow that you see in the FreezerWare above, or I suppose anything else you’d like. I’d love to have some kind of pasta dish, like lasagna or a casserole, which could be taken from freezer to microwave and have dinner on the table on those busy nights (haha those are every night !!).
Thank you for your great recipes 🙂

My favorite freezer meal is Baked Penne Rigato. Ground beef, penne noodles, spaghetti sauce and mozzarella cheese. So easy to make, but so deliciously good. A favorite comfort food too!

My favorite freezer meal is Chicken Tortilla Soup…components frozen separately. I shred roasted chicken and portion it in meal size packages….(spreading it in as thin a layer as possible until after it is frozen). When I make chicken stock, I portion it in meal size portions (soup, gravy, etc) and freeze it. When I grill corn, I cut it off the cob and freeze it (spreading it as thin as possible). Later I can take out just the amount I need.

I love to make double batches of just about everything so that way I always have a meal in the freezer. Lately, I’ve frozen chicken tacos, shredded beef, stuffed shells, meat sauce, and lots more. Thanks for posting your review.

My favourite freezer meals are stuffed shells, shepherds’ pie, baked ziti, chicken pot pie, pre stuffed chicken, pre marinated chicken, and meal starters (shredded chicken for tacos, quesadillas etc)
I do soups and chilis in the winter time – but the containers I have used do crack occasionally. Nice to see a new product that might help with that. Will be giving them a try, for sure.

I am new to freezer cooking, but the first one I am going to try is freezing meatloaf. I plan to make 2 and freeze one. I am excited to try using these containers as well!

I have a few, but my favorite has to be either lasagna or individual taco shells (stuffed shells stuffed with taco meat)! Yum! I also love making lots of chocolate chip cookies and freezing the cookie dough so that I can freshly bake just a few at a time!!

Just one favorite freezer meal? I make everything into a freezer meal! It would be nice to have containers that don’t crack…didn’t realize there were ones that were freezer safe. Currently, here’s a partial list of what I’ve stocked up on: homemade pasta sauce with meatballs, chicken stew with biscuits, oatmeal rolls, cinnamon rolls, chocolate crinkle cookies, waffles, 4 loaves of bread, doughnuts, english muffins, morning glory muffins, fatayers, chicken/rice/veg dish, strawberry shortcake, a homemade hawaiian pizza…goodness…the list could go on if I actually went to look. Can you tell I have a fear of having to buy store bought once the baby comes?!

I tend to freeze soups & chili in the fall & winter and stuffed shells & spaghetti sauces in the spring/summer. One of our favorites is chicken tetrazzini. I almost always have an 8 x 8 of that in our freezer.

I have a family favorite for sausage and cheese turnovers. They freeze so well and can be popped out of the freezer one by one for a quick breakfast treat!

I make large batches of spaghetti sauces, meatballs and chicken noodles soup. These are all family favorites and they freeze well. I don;t have god containers that I can spare to keep in freezer, so I usually use freezer bars.
Would love to try these – sand no stains, even better.
Thank you
