We eat a lot of popcorn in our house. A lot! We usually prefer using the hot air popper so it’s on the healthier side, but occasionally we’ll make a large batch of kettle corn. We never eat microwave popcorn. Besides the fact that is laden with all sorts of unhealthy ingredients, we just can’t stand the smell! I found this idea on Pinterest. It’s one of those simple ideas that works beautifully. It’s also great when you want a single serving of popcorn. The recipe below is for decent single serving. I use a sandwich sized brown bag, but if you’re looking for a nice bowl of popcorn to share, then just double the recipe and use it with a larger brown paper bag.

That was how we did it when I was a kid, and the microwave popcorn hadn’t reached the widespread acceptance it has today, simple yet effective.

What a fabulous idea! Now I just need to find brown paper bags. They’re not as widely available here in Europe. Great recipe 😉

I have to agree that microwave popcorn not only has that horrible smell, but it has an off taste, too…thanks for reminding me to make popcorn tonight!

Brilliant! I love popcorn as well – but I hate all the added ingredients. My mom loves popcorn too and I can’t wait to share this simple recipe with her.

We’re traditionalist and enjoy butter and salt. I do have a few ideas that I want to try so I guess I’ll have to get some of them up here for you all. If you look at the original recipe source she has some seasonings on her page.

I actually just got those neat shaker seasonings. They are located near the popcorn and they have a few different flavors. I got White Cheddar, Butter, and Kettle Corn. Cheap, easy, healthy-ish and they taste great.

We make popcorn this way all of the time. We season with melted butter, salt and Tajin seasoning. It is delicious!

Toss the popped popcorn with some olive oil and sea salt and it will taste fabulous! You’ll need a big bowl to toss the mixture.
